Turlock : 7) Compassion for Refugees

date: April 29, 2017
time: 7:30am kickoff; 8:30-12:00 project
description:

Volunteers have a very special opportunity this year to reach out and show kindness to the refugees who have settled here in Turlock after being driven from their homes in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. Turlock now has over 1800 Refugees living here. Many find this to be too politically charged but all we want to do is show them some compassion- human being to human being. One of their strongest desires is to get jobs so that they can work and provide for their families and live self-sufficiently. Love Turlock is partnering with the International Rescue Committee office (located here in Turlock) and we are looking for volunteers who would be willing to engage the Refugees in mock interviews. This would be a tremendous help to them as they prepare to search and interview for jobs. Let's help them succeed! The mock interviews will be done in English. These Refugees are trying so hard to settle successfully here!

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. (Leviticus 19:33-34)
