San Luis Obispo : ALPHA Pregnancy and Parenting Support Diaper Drive

leader: Patti Fox
date: March 18, 2017
time: 9am-12pm

Help support families in our community by participating in a Diaper Drive for ALPHA Pregnancy and Parenting Support.

Help us help babies by soliciting diapers outside of local grocery stores and other retail outlets. After the morning rally you will be given a store location and directions as to how to ask for donations at the front doors of one of the selected stores.  All stores are within the city limits of SLO.

Facts you would never know..........

- Regardless of age or size, 6-10 diapers are needed daily (around $100+ per month).
- Food assistance programs such as food stamps and WIC focus solely on food and nutrition, and therefore do not cover diapers a necessity for all infants.
- 1 in 3 American moms struggle with diapers. They often cut back on food, utilities and other necessities to provide diapers for their babies.
- To be eligible to attend daycare programs so they can go to work or school, parents are required to supply disposable diapers for their babies.
- Why supply disposable diapers instead of cloth? Many families don't have in-home washing facilities and laundromats are expensive and some don't allow cloth diapers to be washed in commercial machines.

When you sign up for the project above you get a free Love SLO t-shirt. The shirt is available to be picked up at any time from J. Carroll (113 Cross St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 / 595-1000). Go into the main lobby, tell them you signed up for Love SLO, and they'll give you your shirt. Easy as that! Otherwise we'll have your shirt at the Mission Plaza the morning of the event.

Love SLO (March 18th) begins at 8:00am in the Mission Plaza. Festivities (free food, fun, etc.) begin at 8:00am and the Rally will begin around 8:45am. You will meet here before going to your project location.

When you arrive, you'll want to find your project sign and meet your project leader. After the Rally, you will meet at your project sign and hear important instructions from your project leader before going to your project location.
