Smile Farms in Turlock is a three-acre community farm where everyone is welcome to work side-by-side to grow goodness. Over 80% of adults in the nation with developmental disabilities are unemployed. We want to change that so we started a sustainable farm in the heart of California to provide opportunities of employment using our natural resources; agriculture! We are helping our neighbors by providing pesticide free vegetables to enjoy healthy choices of food gown locally in our rich Central Valley soil.
We would love your volunteer support for two very important Smile Farms' projects: Getting the soil ready for flower beds which will bloom for the summer farmer's market, and grooming a community area for visitors to enjoy a picnic or relax when coming to the farm. There are also many ongoing "farm" projects, especially as a pesticide-free environment and utilizing a sustainable farming program.
So, if you love the outdoors and are longing for some good ol' sweat and labor, this is the place for you!
Wear sunscreen, bring your own gloves, a hat, rakes, wheelbarrows, shovels and if someone has a rototiller this would be great to use for these projects!
(All ages are welcome, but younger ones will need supervision)
